2015 Holy Land Study Tours
HOLY LAND HIGHLIGHTS 2015 (29 May – 19 June)
One of the special features of this tour is that we will spend an extended time in Nazareth (7 nights), followed any another 7 nights in Jerusalem. This will allow us to settle into our accommodation and avoid living out of our suitcases day after day. It will also allow greater opportunity to engage with local people, and to become familiar with the streets and sights of both cities. The tour will focus on selected sites of cultural, historical and religious interest, but will not be a traditional pilgrimage. In particular, we will engage with critical historical and biblical scholarship, as well as addressing the challenges facing both Jewish and Palestinian communities following the unilateral declaration of the State of Israel in 1948.
This tour will not involve an extended period on the dig at Bethsaida, although there will be an optional day when participants can work on the dig. For those interested in a program with more opportunities to work on an active archaeological dig, see the other program below.
